What’s a good bounce rate?
Recently while walking through Google Analytics with a client, he asked what the bounce rate was. I explained that it’s simply the measure of people that arrive at a page on your site, and exit, or ‘bounce’ off your site without going any further. These people either found the info they need on that one page, don’t see what they’re looking for, or are confused about where to go from there.
His bounce rate was 25%, and he was worried about that. I was actually quite impressed, as in my experience that’s pretty low! I was going to write a lengthy article on the subject, but Scott from Self Made Minds does such a great job explaining bounce rates, that I don’t need to. Great article, I’ll be keeping that one on hand!

Nice find! I was wondering what that was.
Checking my stats right now….
Hmmm… it appears that I have a 55% bounce rate. Not very good, but a LOT more information is required.
How do I find the bounce rate for a specific page? If lets say the index page is the most commonly found page and the bounce rate is 55%, then i’d have to worry. However, if my poor bounce rate is from users landing on a product page and didn’t find what they were looking for, then I’d be a little less concerned… tho I still want the sale, not to mention I could make better link placement to get them into the site further. Testing, testing, testing.

Odd,
After leaving a comment, i left then came back later. I noticed that the ‘comments’ link under this blog post said ‘0′, when in fact I knew that I had left one.
Bug?

No, it just hadn’t been approved yet
As for finding the bounce rate of a page, you can do that in Content > Content By Title. Look for the page you’re interested in, and the Bounce Rate is the second from last column

I see. Thanks.
I’m looking at some ugly numbers there. Which makes total sense cause my sales are WAY low.
For one page, the boss mentioned that he didn’t like the imagery, so I made some changes and we’ll collect more data.
Maybe do an article on how to help increase and track bounce rate vs. conversions?

That’s an excellent idea for an article, thanks!

Can anyone explain to me the difference between bounce and exit? I have a bounce of 100% on some pages but with an exit of 15% Surely if someone bounces they exit? am I just being thick!?
